Helen Lepcha Sikkim Government Medical College is the first Government Medical College
in the State of Sikkim. Joint initiative of the Government of India and the Government
of Sikkim, the institution is established with the vision of expanding access to
affordable, high-quality medical education and strengthening healthcare services in the
region.
The College is named in honour of Helen Lepcha fondly remembered as Savitri Devi, the
renowned Freedom Fighter born in 1902 in Sangmoo, South Sikkim. The institution proudly
carries forward her legacy of service, compassion, and commitment to the welfare of
society.
